There are 2 different free websites that I use – you will need a separate login for both
Glogster is
available on teacher’s laptops – no security issues so can download any images
GlogsterEDU –
available on class computers – the security settings will only allow you to use
this programme
SO ….
Glogster: http://www.glogster.com/
If you are
making a collaborative class glog it is really easy to search for any images on
the internet – just type in a key word and a HUGE range of images will appear
for chn to choose to upload to the glog immediately - be careful as this means unlimited means easy access to images, videos etcUse it for class brainstorming with a teacher's laptop and TV screen - allow children to continue in pairs with own keyboard/mouse
GlogsterEDU: http://edu.glogster.com/
You will need
to use images already downloaded to your pictures folder – then you can upload
them to your glog – so less user friendly - either the teacher downloads a
folder of images to use or time is spent getting the children searching and
downloading to a shared picture folder
I love this
website – it is so versatile and such a great tool for collaborative work –
children can choose:
·
Text
in boxes or speech bubbles
·
Images
from the internet
·
Own
images/photos
·
YouTube
vidoes
·
Own
recorded videos
·
Cute
animated graphics to add interest
·
A
variety of backgrounds
It requires them to be selective, agree, think about layout, background, colours, graphics, choose their images and words/text wisely – they can waste a lot of time discussing so having a WALT and list of criteria is essential.
When our glogs are finished we spend time looking at each other's glogs and evaluate what we like and what could be changed for next time. It's a great learning and sharing time.
