4 events

Here are 4 events that inspired me to record my learning journey as a blog:
1. In November 2005 I attended Professional Development courses run by Jacqui Sharp – "Digital Cameras for real Beginners and 101 Ways to use your Digital Camera."

2. I was next inspired by Dorothy Burt who spoke about classroom blogging at a Teachers Conference in Palmerston North in January 2010.

3. My wonderful techie and future focussed husband, Julien, continues to inspire and challenge me to try out new "technology." Hence my iPhone is now my favourite device that I am addicted to and would be lost without. Together with my iPad it has made it so easy for me to keep in touch with current changes in technology.

4. The last event that catapulted me in the deep end and showed me what could be happening in my school, was attending the ISTE conference in San Diego in July 2012. This conference opened my eyes, inspired and motivated me to share my learning. This blog, hopefully, will have ideas to inspire you to get e-learning happening in your classroom.

My Own iPhone!

Living with new technology 24/7

Julien has always been an IT whizz – our first computer was bought back in1983 – an Amstrad. So I have always lived with the latest technology. He has always been an Apple fan and I am constantly being reminded that Apple computers are easier to use in the classroom than PCs which are clumsy and complicated to use.

Getting my own iPhone in 2010 was an eye opener – everything about it was amazing! I instantly became organised and informed – instant knowledge about everything as well as shopping lists, contact’s address and phone numbers, photos, google maps, weather sites, golf bookings, websites, games – etc – so many apps!

Steve Jobs and Steve Wosniak were brilliant geniuses whose inventions have changed the direction of history!

My iPad has become nearly as useful as my iPhone. We no longer subscribe to the NZ Herald because of it. We both read the latest news, check emails, Twitter and Facebook in the morning via iPads.

I can’t wait till we have iPads in the classroom – I can already see how I could use an iPad right now - if only we were wireless I would take my one along and trial it!
