4 events

Here are 4 events that inspired me to record my learning journey as a blog:
1. In November 2005 I attended Professional Development courses run by Jacqui Sharp – "Digital Cameras for real Beginners and 101 Ways to use your Digital Camera."

2. I was next inspired by Dorothy Burt who spoke about classroom blogging at a Teachers Conference in Palmerston North in January 2010.

3. My wonderful techie and future focussed husband, Julien, continues to inspire and challenge me to try out new "technology." Hence my iPhone is now my favourite device that I am addicted to and would be lost without. Together with my iPad it has made it so easy for me to keep in touch with current changes in technology.

4. The last event that catapulted me in the deep end and showed me what could be happening in my school, was attending the ISTE conference in San Diego in July 2012. This conference opened my eyes, inspired and motivated me to share my learning. This blog, hopefully, will have ideas to inspire you to get e-learning happening in your classroom.

2013 - A New Year

Wallwisher becomes.....Padlet (a new, fresh look.)
A new year and lots of changes afoot. David Kinane, an e-learning consultant is working with us to get e-learning integrated into the classrooms. He suggested everyone becoming familiar with Wallwisher, an old friend for me. So it's easy to go with this but with a difference this time. The iPad and new laptop mean we can add a photo to our walls. We make all sorts of walls and embed them on our blog and our class wiki and on our own wiki pages.

A Blog Begins - 2010

After attending the workshop on blogging in the classroom in January 2010 I knew that I could do this! So a trial blog began and many hours of fiddling and trial and error!

However my first trial blog with my class at the beginning of 2010 was not well received by Senior Management or the B.O.T. It was obviously too early for this type of innovation at Chelsea School – security involving photos and information were the questionable aspects apparently. I continued with my slideshows for the rest of that year and trialled Wallwisher with the children and found it was well received by the parents.

This made me determined to continue with my class blog and in 2011 to bypass the security issues I advertised the URL for the blog only through syndicate newsletters that were sent home each term and made sure the URL was kept off the school website.
